Maine Coon
Maine Coon are known as Gentle giants;
Maine coons are very intelligent, affectionate, charming, independent, their beauty and size makes them truly a one of a kind breed.
They have a playful personality, which makes them very popular with families. They get on well with children and other pets.
Furthermore, they love the water and can be good swimmers, they are good climbers, very nosey and like to be a part of every activity, for example helping you sort out the washing or working on your computer.
The Maine Coon will be happiest as part of a family who will love it and play with it. You will never be lonely when you have a Maine Coon.
They do require moderate care and grooming. The Maine Coons coat is long and flowing, but is generally manageable because the coat is soft and glossy. To keep it in top condition they do need to be brushed once a week.
Maine Coon is the only long-haired breed that is considered native to the US. Maine Coons have been on the show bench as far back as 1895.
